How to scare your ailing grandmother

My friend, Sam. This is a hair-DO and pretty much exactly what I want.

I am bored, unstimulated, how do you say...je m'ennuie à mourir. That means death, you anglophones. This is for serious.

What is the obvious solution to this dilemma my friends? Drugs? Pornography? Probably, but not before I shave my head.

Oh, stop your gasping and disapproving head motions. I'm not going to go for the Britney look. Besides, my head is a ghastly white, a colour which the rest of my skin would simply balk at in disgust.

I'm going Cyndi Lauper, circa before I was conceived, but fast forwarded. I see it as "rockabilly, you're never going to be given a serious career, but DAMN YA LOOK GOOD, GIRL-chic." I mean, that's exactly what you were thinking too, right? right??

I think I could rock it. I....think. I'm also outrageously terrified and shakin' in ma boots at the prospect of allowing a woman wielding an electric razor to go near my cranium.

Opinions please and thank you!

  1. Hmm... well, over the years I have seen you rock some pretty different hair styles (long, two-toned "hippy" hair when I met you, shoulder-length and retro for Anything Goes, etc) and no matter what your hair is doing, it usually looks pretty good. Appropriate for you at that time in your life, all that stuff you look for in a hair cut.

That being said, this particular cut is really look-specific. You know what I mean? With this hair cut, I always see Sam with her hair always styled virtually the same way. Even the women in those pictures all have it styled basically the exact same way.

It's almost like getting dreds. There's not much you can do with them but wear them the same way, which is one of the major reasons why I could never do dreds; I like having options.

So, basically what I am saying is, knowing that hair which is cut to that length will take quite a while to grow back to your current length, are you ready to commit to this one very specific look for a substantial chunk of time?

P.S. I've always said that you kind of look like Natalie Portman, and she rocked the shaved head. Of course, she wasn't as tanned as you everywhere save for her scalp, so I can see your hang up there :P

  2. Hey Lisa! Well I think Melanie said it well. This is a definite look...also one that will be interesting to grow out. If you are super adventurous and have really thought about it...I would say do it. Hair grows back, that is the cool thing about just going for it. Just go into it with your eyes wide open! :)

  3. good advice, so consensus is...do it? I always wear my hair down anyways, so it's not like I'd miss out on any lost styling possibilities with the hair cut.
